What is Inclusion Boost?
Inclusion Boost is our online careers toolkit designed to give key insights into the real life experience of working in theatre.
It showcases six theatre professional role models from global majority backgrounds.
It aims to demystify theatre processes, open up pathways into the industry for those currently underrepresented, and give everyone an insight into what it’s really like to build a career in theatre.
How was it made?
Partnering with Charter Schools North and East Dulwich, we worked directly with students to develop an engaging and accessible careers toolkit. Through surveys and workshops, we identified key areas of interest, including:
- Theatre roles and job opportunities students want to learn more about
- Essential questions they would ask industry professionals
- Digital formats that make content more accessible and engaging
We then interviewed six inspiring theatre professionals, who lived or worked in Southwark about their lives and careers, posing those questions and more.
How was it made?
We collaborated with six dynamic theatre professionals, each with a unique career journey and strong connections to Southwark:
- Annette Brook – Communications & Marketing Manager at First Story (Former Head of Marketing at Theatre Peckham)
- Male Arcucci – Set and Costume Designer
- David Furlong – Artistic Director of Exchange Theatre
- Nicola Chang – Composer, Sound Designer, and Musician
- Shanti Sarkar – Engagement Producer at Unicorn Theatre
- Malakaï Sargeant – Writer, Producer, Director, and Dramaturg

What’s in the toolkit?
