Over 70 years after this catastrophic event, we are still a world at war.
In 2017 Maya Productions collaborated with Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, Age Uk, and Trinity School Belvedere to explore the play text and its themes
“Just wanted to say thank you again for inviting us this morning. The play was absolutely fantastic! The actors were all incredible; it was brilliant for the children to see how such a powerful performance could be produced using such minimal props, and the sounds effects etc. all being created by the actors themselves! Both the adults and children thoroughly enjoyed it and experienced a range of emotions; tears and laughter from all! Would recommend it to anyone!”

“Creating this piece and sharing it with an audience who got so much from it has reminded me why I wanted to be an actor and theatre maker in the first place; the work we did really had meaning and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it.” Student Actor/Theatre Maker
Maya’s artistic director Suzanne Gorman was involved in the world premiere of this adaptation in Sheffield in 1996. The Crucible’s youth theatre production of Barefoot Gen was thus reviewed by The Star
“This astonishing world premiere is one of the most shockingly powerful and moving pieces to be seen at the Crucible in too many seasons….a story that needs to be told to a new generation.”
